Legislative Page Program

The Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick is seeking post-secondary students to join the Legislative Page Program working part-time in the Legislative Assembly starting in September 2025.

The Page Program consists of approximately ten students who provide a messenger service to all 49 elected Members of the Legislative Assembly and legislative staff. In addition to delivering beverages and offering lecterns to Members, Pages deliver petitions, bills, and motions throughout the historic chambers and prepare the Chamber with the Order and Notice Paper and documents.

Employment as a Page offers a unique interactive educational opportunity to experience legislative and democratic processes.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a student at a post-secondary institution.
  • Must show interest in the legislative process.
  • The candidate should demonstrate conscientiousness, reliability, flexibility, composure, leadership, tact, confidentiality, and be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs (22 kgs).
  • Must be able to work at least three of the following shifts per week*:
    • Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until noon
    • Tuesday, from noon until 7:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. until noon
    • Wednesday, from noon until 7:00 p.m.
    • Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. until noon
    • Thursday, from noon until 7:00 p.m.
    • Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

*Please be advised that these hours may be varied on occasion to include evening hours.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that your preferred official language for assessment is identified on your application form. The following operational requirements are also required: working some evenings; shift work, and/or variable hours.

Salary is $19.09 per hour.
