Opening in January 2026 there will be 144 residents living at the Meadows, which is located on Cobequid Road in Lower Sackville, NS.

Under the direction or supervision of The Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist and reporting to the Director of Care, The Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant is responsible for creating a human habitat and providing care and services to meet the needs of the elders in the cottages. The Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant is committed to alleviating the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom through facilitating small unexpected pleasures in the day to day life of the residents, and by surrendering institutional routines. This is based on the established policies and procedures, Philosophy, Mission, Vision & Values of Rosecrest Communities and the Eden AlternativeTM, The Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors, and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in our community.

Administer individual and group therapy programs under the direction of OT/PT

Documents according to policy and procedures (i.e., resident progress notes, incident reporting).

Observes and monitors residents' response during treatment and responds accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to OT/PT;

Maintains equipment inventory and assists with department audits, cleaning and inspections

Assists in ambulation therapy, positioning techniques, and functional activities

Demonstrates initiative, judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision

Acts as a liaison for the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist

Provides support services for the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, including requests for equipment purchases and identification of equipment

Graduated with an Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma from an accredited program

Previous experience working in a long-term care environment would also be considered an asset.

You have knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles.

Demonstrates initiative, judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision

Knowledge of various health conditions and their impact on health, well-being, and quality of life required

Demonstrated competence in electronic communication, working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required

Basic knowledge of equipment and adaptive devices required

Basic knowledge of wheelchair maintenance and adjustments

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team

Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills required

Demonstrated physical capability of performing activities involved in mobilizing residents

Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
