Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Laundry and Linen Services Branch within Health Services Division as an Industrial Electrician in Saint John.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Repair and maintain all aspects of electrical systems
    • Electrical panel replacement
    • Diagnose electrical problems (circuits)
    • Replace receptacles, switches and fixtures
    • Air exchanger maintenance in multi-unit buildings
  • Perform work orders
  • Monitor work of contractors; arrange for services; check electrical contractor work to ensure done to code
  • Interact (face to face) with clients; assess problem, determine needs on electrical/maintenance issues
  • Perform material inventory; replenish as required
  • Perform other duties such as conveyor belts and automation adjustments, motors and regular plant and equipment repairs

Related duties may be assigned as necessary for operational requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of high school or GED
  • Possession of a journeyperson's certificate in the electrical occupation as issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupation Certification Act of the Province of New Brunswick
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others as well as independently.
  • Good attendance record and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be available to work rotating days, evenings, nights, weekend, and Statutory Holidays.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.

Hourly Rate: $31.43 - Canadian Union of Public Employees - Local 1190
