The Transmission & Distribution Field Operations Training team designs, develops, schedules, delivers, and tracks the progress of training for journeypersons, apprentices, and students in Customer Service, Distribution, and Transmission. Additionally, the team performs field and quality assurance visits, develops, implements, and coordinates emergency service restoration, and liaises with utilities and provincial and federal committees.
As part of the Transmission & Distribution Field Operations Training team, the Field Operations Training Specialist contributes to the development and improvement of all annual training, including a description and schedule for the block release apprenticeship training, as well as a list of continuous training that will be provided to trades people in the regions. This includes evaluating comprehension and identifying areas for improving behaviors, performance, and technical competencies from hire date to certification. This position also includes the administrative/logistical work including, but not limited to, class scheduling, record keeping, training material editing and updating, printing and creating textbooks, maintaining classrooms, ongoing inventory checks, material ordering and organizing.
Key functions include:
• Deliver theoretical and practical training for the certification of Powerline Technicians in addition to other trades, employees, apprentices, and contractors.
• Deliver mandatory training to Customer Service, Distribution, and Transmission field personnel.
• Provide support and mentorship to Powerline Technician apprentices.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Powerline Technician CQ
• Five years of experience in constructing, maintaining, and operating power line systems, post certification
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
• Class 5 Driver's License
The following would be considered assets:
• Experience in developing training materials, scheduling and instruction in a classroom environment
• Experience with industry best practices and standards
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
