Job Summary
The Regional Quality and Risk Manager provides leadership in the development and implementation of clinical safety, risk and quality improvement within designated regional programs. This position works with program leadership, quality committees, managers and staff in providing expertise related to:

- Leads the investigation, management, follow-up and learnings of occurrence reports using a systematic analysis framework i.e. Canadian Incident Analysis Framework.

- Analyzes occurrence data to identify risks to patient safety and identify interventions such policy and/or practice changes consistent with research-based evidence.

- Leads process improvements using a Plan, Do, Study, Act quality improvement model to support initiatives which may be program specific or cross programs and/or zones within NLHS.

- Facilitates response to complex situations that arise within NLHS related to maintaining operations necessary for the delivery of safe and effective healthcare. This may require working collaboratively with both internal and external partners to the organization.

- Engage with programs and departments to overcome barriers related to people centred care.

- Support Strategic Health Networks (SHNs) and Service Integration Teams (SINs) by bringing Quality and Patient Safety lens to promote standardization, evidence-based practice, and Require Safety Practices as per Accreditation Canada.

- Requires knowledge and skills related to quality and patient safety, including the Patient Safety Act 2017, patient safety initiatives and trends to provide the expertise required to foster and contribute to a Just Culture that supports an organization focused on patient safety and quality of care.

- Provides ongoing education and orientation sessions on topics related to quality and patient safety as required (e.g. Occurrence Reporting and Management, Disclosure).

Work assignment is at the discretion of the Program Director.

Job Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline required.
A Master's Degree preferred.

Experience
A minimum of five (5) years management experience within the last seven (7) in a clinical setting is required.
Previous experience in adverse event management and quality improvement would be an asset.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Knowledge of quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with some degree of autonomy in a diverse and changing environment.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, systems thinking and a proven track record of working effectively in teams.
