Partnered with Meridia, Oxford Frozen Foods is looking for an Electro-Mechanical Technician or Industrial Mechanic/Millwright to provide support within their flagship facility based in Oxford, Nova Scotia.

Role Description

As the Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will perform preventative and predictive maintenance on highly automated equipment while also troubleshooting and repairing robotic, mechanical, and PLC-driven systems. Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. This position involves a rotating shift schedule of two weeks on days and two weeks on nights, with every other weekend off.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing various types of automated production equipment.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on the equipment to ensure smooth operations.
  • Work closely with fellow technicians, operators, and supervisors to prioritize repairs and share technical knowledge. Participate in shift handovers and team meetings to ensure continuity, communicate ongoing concerns, and support coordinated efforts across departments.
  • Support sustainability efforts by monitoring production areas for energy and material inefficiencies such as compressed air leaks, water waste, or product spills. Take initiative by helping implement solutions that align with environmental sustainability goals.
  • Actively contribute to a safety-first culture. Follow all safety protocols and ensure that workstations and surrounding environments remain organized and hazard-free.

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with automated production equipment in an industrial maintenance or manufacturing environment. You bring hands-on experience with preventative and predictive maintenance practices, and a strong technical understanding of mechanical systems. You are comfortable interpreting schematics and using diagnostic tools. You are a team player who can also work independently. You also have the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and are adaptable to changing priorities.

Your qualifications include:

  • Completion of the Electro-Mechanical Technician program or an Industrial Mechanic/Millwright diploma; Red Seal certification is an asset (third or fourth-year apprentices may be considered).
  • Applicants with significant hands-on experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical roles may also be considered in place of formal education.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting or industrial maintenance, is preferred.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Stainless steel welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with safety best practices is an asset.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
