Reporting to the Director, Product Management, the Senior Application Specialist - Learning Management Systems (LMS) is an integral member of the Prevention and Safety team and is responsible for coordinating the assets, tags, and systems in the LMS, and other CMS platforms. This role is also responsible for developing and maintaining team file systems and ensuring that they are kept current and organized. As our BrightSpace expert, the role is responsible for overseeing the configuration, optimization, course builds or migrations and testing within the platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the configuration and documentation of BrightSpace which involves creating certification paths, courses, groups, release conditions as defined in confluence documentation.
  • Oversee end to end user management processes, enrolled users, manage roles/permissions, track progress and test in our sandbox.
  • Ensure users have visibility into the appropriate content and are associated with the appropriate group.
  • Document or maintain processes & workflows for ongoing LMS operations in Confluence and link to topic in BrightSpace Community site.
  • Coordinate BrightSpace updates and release
  • Configure advanced LMS features including competencies, awards, intelligent agents, gradebooks, surveys, widgets, LTI integrations and other customized tools.
  • Develop coursework and course builds with internal and external clients.
  • Support instructional designers in implementing the story board in BrightSpace
  • Create, manage and update programs, courses, lessons and topics in the/la course instructor resource course.
  • Build courseware from instructional design and storyboards into authoring platform.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of file management conventions (e.g. filename conventions, standard folder structure)
  • Develop and maintain file archives such as maintaining SharePoint Master file listing all certification paths, courses, learning modules , groups, and digital assets, along with their tags and any other necessary related information or naming convention on the digital assets

What we are looking for :

  • Qualifications include a minimum of 5-9 years experience and a college diploma or university degree in educational technology, information systems or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of and experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), including their architecture, features and reporting tools. Experience with D2L and BrightSpace is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze interrelated factors, assess and mitigate risks, and develop solutions using specialized skills.
  • Communication and influence skills to gather perspectives, understand needs, and present information. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized and ability to write in a concise manner. Must be detailed oriented, self motivated and results driven.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital media, traditional learning and social platforms
  • Experience working in graphic design is an asset
  • Understanding of emerging technologies is an asset. Open to learning new technologies and using technologies to their full potential.
