Rural Planning Engineer/Integrator

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible to carry out studies of rural isolated generation and distribution systems, using planning criteria, to determine when and where problems will occur. You will formulate alternatives to alleviate these problems and complete technical and economic evaluations of the alternatives. You will also be responsible to prepare technical reports detailing the alternatives studied and the recommended solution, as well as, providing technical assistance to Operations, Engineering and Customer Services groups.
You are responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the company's Safety and Health Program and responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner.
As an effective communicator, you are able to spot and share key messages with the right audience. You are curious, inquisitive and enjoy digging in to get to the heart of a challenge and make reasoned recommendations, supported by logic and data. You are responsive to feedback, welcome diversity, and enjoy working with a small team. Learning new fields and sharing your findings energizes you, and you welcome the opportunity to work in an evolving department.
What We're Looking For:
1. Strong written and oral communication skills;
2. Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams;
3. Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.
What You'll Need:
You have graduated from a recognized University with a Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a diploma from and Electrical Engineering Technology program (with equivalent combination of education and experience). Working knowledge of modelling and analysis of power systems, and renewable energy systems would be an asset but not a requirement. For those with a Degree in Electrical Engineering five years of experience preferred but not a requirement. For those with a diploma from an Electrical Engineering Technology program ten years of experience is a requirement. If have a Degree in Electrical Engineering, you must be eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) either as a professional member or engineer-in-training. You must be able to work well in a team environment and have strong written and oral communications skills, and organizational ability. You should also possess a strong aptitude for power systems engineering concepts and a high level of proficiency in the use of computing devices and software applications. You must possess and maintain an appropriate valid driver's license.
