POSITION: SHIP'S COOK
Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Captain
SUMMARY: The primary role of the Ship's Cook is to order and receive all food orders and ensure proper storage and rotation of stores. The Ship's Cook is responsible to the Operations Manager, through the Captain. In addition, he/she will provide healthy, balanced meals for the crew; maintain the galley & mess area in a clean and sanitary manner, and ensure a high standard for his/her own personal cleanliness.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in managing a kitchen in a safe and sanitary manner; inventory control, meal planning, dietary restrictions of crew with health concerns, computer experience.
- Capable of providing healthy, nutritious and tasty meal selections as well as supplying refreshments for breaks.
- Capable of working 16 days at sea working a split shift of 12-14 hours per day in total while at sea.
- Culinary Arts Diploma from a recognized college; Red Seal Chef preferred.
- Must hold valid Transport Canada certifcates for wokring offshore (Basic Safety, First Aid and Marine Medical)
- Experience as Ship's Cook working offshore is an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC DUTIES ARE:
- Safety
Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the galley and ensuring the safety of the galley and equipment in the food preparation and service areas for all crew and passengers. Following Company Safety Policy and Procedures and demonstrating good seamanship skills. - General
Responsible for the receiving of stores and maintaining the galley inventory. Will report to the Captain on galley inventory daily.
Will ensure the inventory is maintained to the highest quality and safety standards.
The Ship's Cook shall ration stores so each crew receives an equal amount of rations.
The Ship's Cook shall arrange nutritional, varied and fulfilling meals for the crew as per the schedule of watches set by the Captain and/or Operations Manager.
Shall maintain the galley and mess area in a clean and sanitary manner:

Must ensure job skills, training and required certificates are kept up-to-date.
