What you will do

Reporting to the Assistant District Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;
  • providing technical and administrative work for the construction and maintenance of bridges and buildings for the Fredericton District;
  • planning, organizing and scheduling of the work of several bridge crews;
  • ensuring quality and quantity control of materials;
  • interpreting test results.
  • preparing and/or reviewing cost estimates and doing field layouts for bridge maintenance and capital bridge projects.

Work environment:

  • Office location: Woodstock and Fredericton.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Some travel within the district will be required.

Essential qualifications;

  • Graduation from high school, supplemented with graduation from a recognized engineering technology program.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of bridge related experience.
  • A minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset:

  • experience in construction of bridges

SALARY:

Transportation Maintenance Superintendent (Bridges & Buildings): $36.73 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
