We are hiring a Director of Multimodal Performance and Gateway Analytics
Position summary:
The Halifax Port Authority is seeking a seasoned leader with a strong combination of supply chain, container terminal and/or intermodal operational expertise, regulatory knowledge, and analytical skills, to join our team. Reporting to our Senior Vice President, this role includes managing the continuous improvement cycle (Plan, Execute, Measure and Adjust) of multimodal operations. To accomplish this, the Director will serve as a dedicated resource for HPA, overseeing progress against clearly defined standards, delivering performance insights, supporting transshipment, intermodal recovery efforts, enhancing analytical reporting, and responding to market-driven service inquiries.
Considering its major influence on market relationships, business growth, and port revenue, this role will focus on facilitation rather than direct operations.
What you'll do:
- Drive gateway performance through an effective use of data
- Identify opportunities to improve multimodal services through efficiencies and optimize connections through vessel scheduling
- Develop daily and rolling intermodal and trans-shipment plans
- Monitor daily execution of intermodal and terminal plans to ensure fluidity
- Develop multimodal strategies for growth, expansion, and development of transportation infrastructure
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to create an inter-terminal operations plan
- Lead and manage projects focused on trade analytics in support of business development initiatives
- Monitor costs in relation to the inter-terminal rail operations
- Propose annual sustainable initiatives and innovative Port regulatory changes to reduce the Port's multimodal ecological footprint while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years of intermodal and or container terminal operations experience
- A broad business acumen and the ability to apply a strategic view to current operations and future possibilities
- Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships among diverse stakeholders
- Solid knowledge of reporting is required with understanding of factors to incorporate key metrics and benchmarked data to evaluate performance
- A high degree of organization to effectively manage time, work independently, be self-motivated, and multi-task in an environment that is often deadline driven
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as a high level of discretion when dealing with business partners
