As part of the Distribution Vegetation Management team, the Forestry Technician is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering on preventative maintenance and vegetation management weekly, monthly and annual targets, along with operational and customer vegetation management needs, through providing supervision to vegetation contractors, ensuring the work is performed per specification and in a safe manner.

Key functions include:
• Detailing vegetation work orders and budget estimates for each job associated with preventative vegetation maintenance contracts and customer requests for tree trimming to ensure the tree pruning and cutting requirements are communicated clearly and completed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.
• Planning, coordinating and communicating clearly with the vegetation management team, contractor crews, field operations and customers the work plans to complete in accordance with the vegetation management program and field operations requirements, all work orders associated with preventative vegetation maintenance and customer requests for tree trimming.
• Supervising contractor crews by monitoring work methods, cut quality and progress of jobs, conducting equipment and work site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and contract specifications and following up on all customer issues.

Our ideal teammate will have one of the following:
• Bachelor of Science in Forestry OR Bachelor of Science in Forestry Engineering
• Diploma in Forest Technology (those with a Diploma in Forest Technology will require
two additional years of related work experience)
AND
• Two years of experience in planning and coordinating schedules, assigning tasks, overseeing team performance, managing contractors, and resolving customer conflicts

In addition to:
• A valid class 5 driver's license
• A certification as an ISA Certified Arborist or ISA Certified Utility Specialist or is able to become certified within 2 years from the date of hire would be as asset

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to all future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
