We are looking for someone who lives by our corporate values of Heart, Integrity and Drive. As a member of the Support Centre Team, the Drafting/Design Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: designing and drafting complete construction drawing sets, creating preliminary designs both interior and exterior for internal and franchisor approvals, creation of all required supporting construction documents, liaising with Design and Construction Coordinators, Field Operations Staff, suppliers, architects, engineers and contractors.
What Will You Do?
- Designing and drafting complete drawing packages for new builds, renovations (minor and major), and new space tenant fit ups for all Brands operated by FMI.
- Creating complete construction document packages including but not limited to specifications, material requests, and data sheets for use by the Design & Construction Coordinators and contractors.
- Submitting designs and construction documents to various parties for approval from internal reviews, franchisors, landlords, and municipalities/local authorities.
- Liaising through various communications methods to develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external clients and stakeholders, such as owners, Team Members, Support Centre Team, Field Operations Teams, franchisors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Supporting operational best practices by using and assisting in the creation of standards, tools, and procedures.
- Maintaining CAD blocks of equipment and materials as defined by brand standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What Will You Bring to the Role?
- Two years of post-secondary education, preferably in the field of Architectural, Civil and/or Mechanical Technology would be considered an asset.
- One to three years proven experience in AutoCAD design and drafting experience.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- You are recognized for your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly with e-mail, spreadsheets and word processing programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You are at your best when you are challenged and thrive on getting results.
- Experience working in a busy and fast-paced environment.
- Advanced knowledge of construction trades and knowledge of mechanical building systems and utilities both considered assets.
- Bilingualism in English & French is also considered an asset.
