We are currently looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate Finance group in a permanent position.

Key Elements of the Role:

  • Accounting and financial reporting, which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Preparing monthly journal entries and general ledger monitoring, including full working paper/audit file preparation, detailed account reconciliations and analysis;
  • Preparing financial statements and analyzing the financial results;
  • Determining appropriate accounting treatments; and
  • Assisting internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits;
  • Assist with preparation of EE's semi-annual forecasts, annual budget and annual long-term forecast;
  • Support in the preparation of EE's regulatory reports and tax filings;
  • Collaborating with other Emera departments to provide financial information;
  • Preparing other ad hoc analysis and reports as required.

These skills will make you successful:

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce with significant related work experience and have completed an accounting designation (CPA, or its predecessor CA, CMA or CGA);
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel;
  • Knowledge of the gas and power markets would be considered an asset but is not required;
  • Detail oriented and possesses strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment, with the ability to handle multiple deliverables and work independently under tight deadlines;
  • Have a solid business acumen, customer focused and is innovative, with the ability to identify and implement improved processes.
