The Field Project Lead is accountable for the execution of the distribution line capital program. We are looking for a self-motivated, customer focused individual to engage with field personnel and project stakeholders, to track execution progress, and to provide feedback to support the cost-effective improvement in reliability of distribution infrastructure.
Key elements of this role include:
- Oversee distribution line (PLT), pole setting, traffic control and crane contract resources to ensure the safe and effective completion of planned capital work.
- Execution of the Contractor Safety Management Plan and the Environmental Management System to ensure appropriate safety and environment engagement with contract employees performing work.
- Provide on-site project management for assigned projects, including pre-execution inspections, coordinating and communicating with customers, stakeholders, and municipal/provincial regulators, assisting with material management, participating in start-up meetings and reviewing change orders.
- Provide updates to regional supervision and management to ensure adequate situational awareness for regional leadership.
- Ensure applicable NSP construction standards are followed. Perform Quality Assurance and Reliability inspections pre and post project completion to ensure the work planned and performed aligns with expectations.
- Provide feedback on planning practices, construction practices, distribution line performance and reliability to help prioritize investments for the distribution line capital programs.
- Ensure the safe and effective completion of emergency and reactive maintenance work on Nova Scotia Power's distribution system when required.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Grade XII education or equivalent.
- A Certificate in the Electrical trade, Power Line Technician and/or a Certificate in Engineering Technology and/or Certificate as an Electrical Technician would be preferred, however a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience with an electric utility or utility services contractor would be an asset.
- Must hold a valid Nova Scotia driver's license.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation, communication, organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Adaptable to change and a self-motivated individual who is committed to optimizing the work management and scheduling processes.
- Demonstrate an ability to function well in a team environment and be able to work independently when needed.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have proven problem resolution skills with the flexibility and ability to adapt to rescheduled assignments.
- Available for after hour consultation and emergency power restoration work.
- This position may occasionally need to provide support to projects outside of their defined geographic region.
