Asset Specialist - Distribution

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provides technical support to Operational and other Engineering Services groups.
  2. Provides long term asset planning services for the Labrador, Northern, Western & Eastern Regions..
  3. Ensures that equipment standards and operating procedures are established and implemented.
  4. Reviews and analyses maintenance history and costs to correct recurring problems/high costs through changed maintenance tactics, modifications, etc.
  5. Investigates and provides verbal and/or written reports to the Manager on problems encountered, corrective action taken or recommended and associated costs.
  6. Ensures that potential hazards are identified through good engineering practices and eliminated or controlled.
  7. Assists with and leads equipment failure investigations using accepted root cause analysis methods.

What We're Looking For:

  1. Strong written and oral communication skills;
  2. Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams;
  3. Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.

What You'll Need:

  1. University degree or demonstrated technical knowledge and experience, with 7-10 years of relevant experience in the electric utility industry.
  2. Specific experience in distribution (engineering, asset planning and/or equipment) will be key asset for this position.
  3. Ability to plan, lead, organize and control work activities in a highly technical environment.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Must possess a good working knowledge of computers and corporate software applications. ie: JDE, Microsoft Suite and Project Management tools.
