Job Summary
This regional position assists the Manager of Health Information Services and Informatics in the provision of data submission and analytical services to approved stakeholders utilizing Eastern Health data sources as well as CIHI (Canadian Institute for Health Information) databases via 3M Report Writing software, Cognos, and other relevant information sources such as CIHI-Portal. The Health Records Analyst will assist the Clinical Information Services team with the development and implementation of organizational standards/protocols, libraries, processes and manuals for Health Record Technical and Analytical functions. The Health Records Analyst will also assist in delivering relevant information to stakeholders as it relates to the Clinical Information Services program and services. In collaboration with the Clinical Information Services team, this position facilitates the implementation of new procedures required by CIHI, Department of Health, Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information, Eastern Health, or other stakeholders. Supports implementation and delivery of a department Quality Initiatives Program. This includes participation in quality initiatives process with particular emphasis on indicator development and outcome measurement. Acts as the Health Records resource person for Medical and other Professional Quality Initiative care teams as it relates to coding, abstracting and analysis of clinical data. This includes the completion of medical and professional chart audits and presentation of results to the appropriate professional groups and committees. Assists with report production, coordinating requests for information region wide when requested by stakeholders or directed by the manager. Assists with training for student placements and new staff where directed. Participates in committee work and other related duties as required.

Constant visual concentration includes staring at a computer screen to read and run various reports, analyze and validate information and data, ensure accuracy in all work.
Regular auditory concentration is required to listen to multiple stakeholders for requests of information, answering the telephone multiple times a day and listening attentively for the correct information being provided, i.e. spelling of certain words.
Timelines and interruptions may be required to prioritize daily activities as urgent requests and issues may arise, and responding to requests efficiently and effectively.
Exact results and precision may include inputting statistical data into spreadsheets and running various reports at the same time.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Successful completion of a recognized program in Health Records Administration or Health Record Technology, Health Information Services, or Health Information Management with a recognized course in statistics.
Experience working with spreadsheets and database computer software.
A minimum of five (5) years of coding experience within the last seven (7) is required.
Current and continuing certification as an accredited Health Information Management Professional from the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
