Oakland Academy is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and well-trained Individual Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This position involves working one-on-one with a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a licensed early learning and child care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent, one-on-one support to a child with ASD, helping them participate in daily routines and activities
Collaborate with classroom educators to foster inclusion and promote developmental goals
Support the child's emotional regulation, social engagement, and communication needs
Adapt activities and environments to align with the child's individualized plan
Assist in transitions between activities, indoors and outdoors
Work closely with the center's leadership team, therapists, and family to ensure consistency
Document observations and progress, and contribute to team planning
Requirements:
Formal training and experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum (e.g., Autism Intervention Training, ABA experience, related certifications)
A solid understanding of inclusive practices and child development
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting
Strong communication skills and a calm, patient demeanor
Must meet all provincial Early Childhood Education staff qualifications and pass background checks

Hours: Standard position is 35 hours/week, with the possibility of up to 40 hours/week depending on staff coverage needs across the facility.
