The opportunity:
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual to join the Finance and Services Branch as an Assistant Director District Financial Services (Francophone Sector) working in the Fredericton Office.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Services Branch, and in conjunction with various internal and external stakeholders at the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the chosen candidate will support the Francophone education system by:

  • Supervising the development and allocation of budgets for the Francophone school districts and the Francophone sector.
  • Acting as a resource person for the Francophone school districts and the Francophone sector of the Department to promote the efficient management of resources.
  • Supervising the analysis of financial performance of the Francophone sector including Francophone school districts and educational services branches of the Department and recommending appropriate corrective measures.
  • Participating, with the Francophone educational services sector, in the development of new Department initiatives and the analysis and formulation of new funding mechanisms that support the delivery of instruction to students in schools.
  • Attending, as needed, negotiations and providing advice with respect to negotiations of collective agreements.
  • Sitting on committees as assigned and participate in province-wide projects.

Required Competencies:

  • University degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • A CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: financial management experience in a medium to large organization, government or within a public accounting firm.
  • Minimum of two (2) years must be in management.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in French at a superior level and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

Wage:
Pay Band 7 - $91,832 to $111,124 annually

Work environment:

  • Office location: Place 2000, 250 King Street, Fredericton, NB.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
