Not quite sure what a Medical Underwriter is? A Medical Underwriter is a professional who evaluates an applicant's medical history to determine their eligibility for insurance coverage, as well as the terms and pricing of that coverage. It's an essential role in the insurance industry, offering a great opportunity to learn and build a long-term career. Your everyday with us:

  • As a Bilingual Medical Underwriter, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Analyze and manage medical underwriting requests
  • Determine product eligibility for our applicants
  • Prepare documentation, administer operational practices including invoicing, manage information systems, and communicate with customers
  • Analyze and review medical risks based on medical evidence requirements, making quality decisions regarding eligibility of coverage and issuance of personal health or life plans
  • Interact with clients, brokers/agents, physicians, and other departments over the phone, using various technologies and demonstrating exceptional administrative skills

What you need to succeed:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree and/or relevant working experience in Nursing or the healthcare field.
  • Excellent communication skills - clear and concise through email, letter, and phone, with confidence in explaining decisions
  • A consistent "Whatever it takes" attitude, enjoying new challenges every day
  • Strong technical aptitude - ability to multitask and navigate multiple software applications simultaneously
  • A medical or insurance background is a definite asset
  • To meet the needs of the business, bilingualism is required for this position (written, spoken, reading)
