Quality Engineer

The Shaw Group is looking for a Quality Engineer. This position is based out of our Lantz, NS Precast Production Facility, reporting to the Technical and Special Projects Manager. We are looking for someone who has technical aptitude, with leadership skills who enjoys a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Supervise a team of Quality Specialists in a Precast production plant.
• Lead daily Quality meeting reviewing results and assign actions.
• Design, monitor, optimize and control concrete mixes (SCC, zero-slump and conventional).
• Develop flowcharts and troubleshooting guides for mixer control system.
• Develop, implement, and maintain concrete strength-maturity programs.
• Compile and submit packages to customers and Regulatory associations.
• Prepare project specific quality control plans including test frequency, curing regimes and inspection checklists.
• Coordinate with inspectors, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure quality compliance.
• Manage incoming material and suppliers for performance and compliance with standards and specifications.
• Ensure calibration of equipment to meet industry standards.
• Initiate Root Cause Analysis and implementation of corrective actions in collaboration with operations, maintenance, and sales teams.
• Bachelor of Engineering with a focus in civil, or a similar discipline.
• Professional Engineering designation.
• 5+ years of experience working with concrete mixes (design in SCC considered a strong asset)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel, Sharepoint and PowerBi.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of CSA, ASTM and relevant provincial transportation standards and specifications.
• Experience in similar QA/QC role and responsibilities
• Supervisory experience in the construction industry or manufacturing plant considered an asset.
