Your main responsibilities
- Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety policies.
- Participate on project teams in the planning and delivery of a range of contaminated sites projects (Phase I, II and III ESA, remediation, risk assessment, monitoring, etc.) and hazardous materials surveys.
- Conduct field programs in the capacity of Senior Environmental Technologist in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Assist with basic environmental assessment duties on projects of varying complexity, including emergency spill response.
- Perform construction site supervision, contractor coordination, and daily reports.
- Plan and execute field investigations including drilling and test pit supervision, log subsurface conditions, and collect soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air samples.
- Maintain sample integrity and QA/QC protocols during sample collection, handling, storage, and submission to the laboratory.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, and third parties.
- Remain current with the requirements of local, provincial and federal agencies for the assessment and management of contaminated sites.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff and support their professional development.
What makes you unique
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of environmental consulting.
- University degree or technical diploma/certificate or equivalent in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, or a related field of study.
- Experience in consistently applying practical knowledge to achieve project objectives.
- Solid understanding of the assessment and management of contaminated sites in Nova Scotia.
- Experience working on federal client assignments is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement sampling techniques for soil, water, air, and building materials.
- Experience with GIS applications and technical specifications is an asset.
- Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and provide direction to contractors.
- Strong attention to detail and note-taking and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule and to work outside of regular business hours, as required.
- Ability to travel within Nova Scotia regularly and throughout Atlantic Canada occasionally.
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain security clearance.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional manner.
- An interest in and sensitivity to occupational health and safety.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
