As a HPEI employee, and as part of the Mobile Mental Health Team, operated by Medavie, this position responds to individuals in crisis requiring de-escalation, mental health and risk assessments, and coordination of care and support in the community. The Registered Nurse works collaboratively with other interdisciplinary service providers such as, but not limited to, Community Mental Health and Addictions, Primary Care, Psychiatry, EMS, justice, victim services, child and family services, and police services.

Duties:

  • Complete initial and on-going client assessments including substance use history, suicide risk assessment and Best Possible Medication History (BPMH).
  • Assess client for most appropriate service
  • Provide education and support to clients in individual and group format.
  • Develop case management planning in collaboration with the client.
  • Communicate with interdisciplinary services as required.
  • Provide Recovery Based, Client/Family Focused, Trauma Informed Care.
  • Educate clients on harm reduction strategies.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with extensive experience in clinical area may be considered
  • Some nursing experience (1-3 yrs) with a combination of hospital and/or community setting
  • Obtain and maintain education credentials and certifications specific to practice area
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island
  • Possess a solid knowledge of chemical dependency and substance use.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and individual and group communication skills.
  • Have good previous work and attendance record.
  • Knowledge of the Provincial Mental Health Act
  • Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience using the Telus EMR would be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $44.26 - $55.29 per hour

Bi-Weekly Hours: On Demand - Days and Evenings as required (7am-7pm & 10am-10pm shifts)

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
