Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Economic Development Officer is responsible for attracting, expanding, and supporting the Town of Paradise's commercial, industrial and public enterprises to positively affect the economic health of the Town. The Economic Development Officer builds partnerships with communities, business networks and government departments, and promotes business opportunities within the Town through various means. The incumbent is also responsible for liaising with the Regional Economic Development Agency (Advantage St. John's) to support the regional economic development initiatives and provide the agency with localized information to support business attraction and retention to Paradise.
Qualifications
- Degree in Commerce, Business, Economics or related discipline;
- Five (5) years' related experience. Experience working in a municipal setting is considered an asset;
- Experience in community economic development theories and practices;
- Experience in business planning and market analysis;
- Ability to meet deadlines and think analytically;
- Ability to create and maintain relationships with excellent customer service capability; and
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The salary scale for this position is $74,826.70 - $93,533.37. The Town of Paradise provides an exceptional benefits package, which includes a defined benefit pension and a group insurance plan.
