The holder of this position plays a central role in ensuring the reliability of financial results and maintaining the company's financial strength. By ensuring that actuarial methods and analyses support informed and sustainable decision-making, you will be at the heart of our success. You will be primarily responsible for various special projects, including those related to digital transformation, actuarial innovation, and the strategic priorities of senior management.
Corporate Projects:
- Take responsibility for special projects of strategic importance, related to digital transformation, actuarial innovation, or senior management priorities.
- Collaborate with finance, information technology, and other key functions on their initiatives with actuarial implications.
Continuous Improvement and Mentoring:
- Review actuarial processes and models to ensure quality, rigor, and compliance with best practices.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of tools, work methods, and actuarial processes.
- Promote best practices in documentation.
- Mentor and support the team's analysts and advisors, fostering their professional development and promoting a collaborative and learning environment.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the life insurance sector.
- University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA).
Technical Skills:
- Excellent command of actuarial and accounting standards, including IFRS 17.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, financial markets, investments, and operations.
- Extensive expertise in actuarial modeling and developing robust and efficient analytical tools.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian regulatory requirements, including LICAT and OSFI guidelines.
- Proficiency in the specialized actuarial platform AXIS is a prerequisite.
- Advanced level in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and good command of office tools.
Professional Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to thrive in a transforming, sometimes ambiguous or uncertain environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English is required.
