Purpose
As a Senior Product Owner for Open Banking, your primary responsibility will lead the development and evolution of our open banking products and capabilities, drive the execution of priority outcomes for our Open Banking journey, enable internal teams, make value-based decisions through collaboration with business owners, & actively contribute to Scotiabank's evolving Open Banking strategy.
The Senior Product Owner will collaborate closely with lines of businesses including retail, small business, wealth, operations, data, risk management, and other stakeholders whose business model will be impacted and enabled through open banking capabilities. This individual will have strong knowledge of the open banking landscape globally, while ensuring a highly visible and transparent understanding of the value, priority and impact. They will lead the Open Banking prioritized outcomes through active alignment of work being shaped, accepted and ultimately delivered by the Open Banking team. What You'll Do:
- Own the end-to-end vision and roadmap for specific Open Banking products according to the business line and the overall Open Banking strategy.
- Translate regulatory requirements, business requirements and market trends into actionable product features and priorities.
- Define and prioritize a clear value driven product backlog aligned with Open Banking strategic business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver secure, scalable and compliant solutions.
- Engage with ecosystem partners (fintechs, aggregators, etc.) to understand the needs and the winning business cases.
- Analyze customer and developer feedback to update the products, portals, and overall user experience.
- Define and track product performance metrics and ensure continuous improvement.
- Supporting the definition of the enterprise open banking business model and strategy, including KPIs and benefits.
- Owns the Open Banking Product Backlog and maintains its priorities.
- Oversee the day-to-day development and execution of the product backlog, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality product increments.
- Ensure awareness of market and trends in the business environment; using research and available analysis to help inform ideas.
- Drive change management efforts for related outcomes including:
- Conducting needs analysis/analyzing recommended and/or implemented changes.
- Preparing workflows/procedures to ensure new functions/processes are integrated into the operational environment.
- Ensuring proper determination of workflow effort differences between existing and recommended processes.
- Serve as a facilitator and relationship-builder among key stakeholders with sometimes competing priorities.
What You'll Bring:
- 7+ years of product ownership or product management experience in financial services, ideally in Open Banking.
- Deep understanding of Open Banking frameworks, data standards (e.g. FDX, PSD2) and API technologies.
- Experience working with regulatory and compliance teams on financial data access, consent flows, authentication.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance business, technical, and regulatory needs.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills in an agile product delivery environment.
- Familiarity with developer tools, APIs and sandbox environments.
- University Degree in engineering, computer science, or business + MBA
