Strategic Health Networks (SHNs) are co-led in a dyad leadership model by a SHN Director and Medical Lead. The SHN?s are interprofessional groups with a provincial scope and mandate to help achieve targeted, measurable, and sustainable clinical and operational improvements with health outcomes and service delivery. Network members work together collaboratively to ensure there is a strategic, provincial approach to align services, initiatives, and planning across zones and provincial programs (as appropriate) to ensure consistency, coordination, quality, efficiency, and system sustainability.

Job Summary

NL Health services is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Strategic Health Network Medical Lead for the Primary Health Care Strategic Health Network.

Aligned with NL Health Services? mission, vision, values, and strategic direction, the SHN Medical Lead is a pivotal leadership position that provides vision, direction, and strong leadership to this newly established role. Collaborating closely in a dyad partnership the SHN Director and Medical Lead adopt a stewardship approach to foster system-wide engagement in planning and management across the provincial health system with emphasis on quality standards and continuous improvement.

The Medical Lead shares responsibility for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the assigned SHN. Committed to transforming healthcare delivery, the Medical Lead focuses on driving organizational excellence and ensuring the provision of high-quality care.

As a clinical/medical specialist with expertise in primary health care, the Medical Lead plays a key role in building partnerships, engaging healthcare providers and stakeholders across NL Health Services. This collaboration ensures an interprofessional approach that enhances health outcomes, translates evidence and best practices into clinical environments, and shares and scales quality improvement initiatives.

The Medical Lead works in close collaboration with the SHN Director to coordinate efforts. Together, they will emphasize system-wide planning, quality standards, and continuous improvement. Both the Medical Lead and the Director work closely with the SHN Transformation Team, core committee members, executive teams, zone operational leaders, and other working groups to fulfill the mandate and objectives of the Strategic Health Networks.

This is a one-year term position, renewable for a second term based on a successful evaluation of the first term. The Medical Lead will work with the SHN Director to coordinate mutual availability, ensuring active participation in SHN activities, including planning, preparation, and attendance at meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador or appropriate provincial licensing body.
  • Current appointment to the medical staff of NL Health Services
  • Demonstrates commitment to engagement, person and family centred care, and evidence-based practice.
  • Current or past experience in a medical leadership role.
  • Experience and/or academic preparation in health care management and quality improvement an asset.
  • Experience in working within clinical networks an asset.

Remuneration:

Renumeration will be $20,000 per annum.
