BF&M is comprised of several companies selling health, life, pension, property and casualty insurance products.?We are excited to partner with them looking to bring a Senior Investments Analyst to their team in Dartmouth.

Reporting to the Group Head of Asset Management & Treasury, the Senior Investments Analyst will analyze and manage the investment assets of the BF&M Group of Companies (the "Group") within an Asset-Liability Management (ALM) and risk-aware framework, optimizing for capital efficiency. In addition, the successful incumbent will coordinate group treasury activities and forecasting requirements to ensure alignment with financial goals. By leveraging investment expertise and managing key relationships, the Senior Investments Analyst will influence strategic decisions across the organization and deliver investment-related solutions and reporting.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Review and update the Group Investment Policy Statement (IPS) and manage IPS documents annually through proper governance channels.
  • Manage the Group investment mix to ensure that asset liability matching is in line with agreed risk tolerances, while optimizing investment portfolios for capital and rating agency purposes.
  • Independently monitor risk exposures within the overall portfolio and in underlying investments.
  • Attend third party investment manager meetings, draft meeting notes, assess manager performance.
  • Ensure Group investments are in compliance with the IPS, and underlying manager guidelines where applicable, at all times.
  • Work with the investment accounting function to ensure that all investment reporting is timely, accurate and appropriate for the audience, which will include the Board, regulators, AM Best and senior management.
  • Work with accounting and actuarial staff to design and maintain IFRS requirements such as discount curves, cash flow forecasting, and expected credit loss reserving.
  • Update and manage Group Treasury which includes setting the Liquidity Policy and ensuring that sufficient liquidity is maintained throughout the Group, while ensuring that funding in or out of investment managers is conducted in a timely manner.
  • Engage in regular research and reading to stay apprised about the state of the global economy, financial markets, and general current events.
  • Use complex financial models to project future earning and profit potential and make informed investment and budgeting decisions.
  • Assess and analyze pension investment manager performance.
  • Perform any other duties and work on special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, finance, or economics.
  • CFA or similar investment or finance designation.
  • CPA or similar accounting designation would be an asset.
  • Experience in financial services (banking, insurance) would be an asset.
  • 5+ years of post-designation experience.
  • Knowledge of IFRS9 and IFRS17 would be an asset.
