Technical Operator - Electrical

Key Responsibilities:

Operates the D/C Converter and Terminal Station located at Muskrat Falls. Will mentor operations personnel. Conducts operations and troubleshooting duties and works as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Operates and performs regular inspections of all equipment associated with DC Converter station and Terminal Station at Muskrat Falls. Identifies and reports deficiencies, conducts testing and troubleshooting of alarms, prepares, issues and if necessary, executes switching orders. Operates stations and equipment in accordance with system requirements. Issues work permits and work authorizations; maintains station log; performs routine, preventative and emergency maintenance. Performs installation, inspection, commissioning and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment. Perform or direct all operations to isolate and restore electrical equipment for maintenance.

Responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation's Safety and Health Program. Responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner. All other duties related to this classification.

What You'll Need:

High school graduation, successful completion of three (3) year electrical or electronics technology course and (5) years related experience. Previous experience in an HVdc environment is an asset. Shall have a thorough knowledge of all regulations and safety rules. Knowledge of, or familiarity with, use of electrical and electronic measuring instruments, devices, equipment, apparatus and the interpretation of schematics, construction drawings and Canadian Electrical Code. Possess a sound basic knowledge of the theory and operation of transformers, circuit breakers, voltage regulators and other related equipment.
