Job Summary
The Development and Rehabilitation Division is an Ambulatory Care Program providing provincial pediatric development and rehabilitation services expanding into the schools and community. The Division has an opening for a temporary, full-time Clinical Occupational Therapist I with Outreach Services located in Corner Brook.

This position will provide Occupational Therapy to children with physical and developmental diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and Spina Bifida, living in the Western Region. Specialized clinical work will include assessment of developmental milestones, self-care, fine motor and play skills.

This position will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment to patients/clients referred. The occupational therapy management of clients includes identification of occupational performance issues, completion of assessments, setting treatment goals and objectives, providing intervention, establishing outcomes and follow-up plan in consultation with client and family. The Occupational Therapist (OT) will participate as a member of a regional care team which includes Physiotherapists and other Occupational Therapists. This OT will be required to provide consultation into the childcare settings, educational settings and home environment. Some travel throughout the region will be expected. The OT will be responsible to precept Occupational Therapy students and offer other clinical education experience to students within NL Health Services.

This position reports to the Division Manager of Children's and Women's Health and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Occupational Therapy for integrity and professional practice issues.

Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Regularly lifts or moves objects up to 30 lbs. and assists, supports, pushes or pulls clients and equipment up to and over 50 lbs.
Regularly stands and walks and drives to and from sites/homes within the region.
Occasionally uses hand tools and equipment that requires rapid physical movement and reflexes and controlled movement.
Fine finger/precision is required on a regular basis when performing work on the computer
Visual and auditory concentration is regularly required as well as higher than normal levels of attentiveness or alertness.

Job Qualifications
Graduate of a school or program of occupational therapy recognized by the board.
Current licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board.
A minimum of two years of experience within the last four working as a Clinical Occupational Therapist with a pediatric population is required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with inter-professional team members, patients/residents/clients and their families in a one-to-one and group environment.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills required for client documentation and report writing.
Demonstrated effective time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy Support Workers and students.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an inter-professional team.
Proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical and effective practice.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
