Position Description

St. Francis Xavier University, one of Canada's leading universities, is seeking an Assistant Manager, Procure to Pay. Reporting to the Manager, Procure to Pay, the incumbent will assist the Manager with the daily operations of the procurement and accounts payable functions at the University. The incumbent is responsible for leading the department in process support and internal control which includes reviewing and updating processes and policies to ensure procurement services provided are effective and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of the Procure to Pay process ensuring it operates efficiently and meets the needs of the University and its objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, legal requirements and regulatory standards throughout the process.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for process improvements within the P2P cycle
  • Review, recommend and implement policies and procedures to improve the P2P cycle
  • Support the Accounts Payable and Procurement Card functions as the subject matter expert on procurement policies, HST regulations, and system processes.
  • Oversee the audit processes for the purchasing card program and recommend possible improvements to the process.
  • Responsible for the annual year end audit and reporting requirements.
  • Supervision of staff including assigning tasks, coaching and monitoring performance, providing training and development opportunities.
  • Participate in working groups as the University Representative as required

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, preferably with an accounting concentration
  • A CPA Accounting designation is required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience
  • University work experience is an asset
  • Strong (verbal and written) communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate, with sound working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Teams
  • Results-oriented, pro-active, professional
  • Analytical thinker with proven problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, relationship building)
