Basic Purpose of Position
This position will provide flight operations subject matter expertise and support for multiple safety management functions within the Safety Quality & Environment department, as well as act as a safety liaison for Flight Operations department in all matters pertaining to flight safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Safety and Quality Auditor for audits requiring Flight Operations SME, including IOSA and regulatory auditing and observations.
- Support internal audit regulatory and IOSA checklist management, including development and update of all audit checklists relating to Flight Operations processes.
- Support continuous improvement of quality assurance requirements under SMS regulations pertaining to the air operator.
- Provide support to the Manager, Flight Safety on flight safety issues and assist with continuous improvement of the Flight Safety Program and related SMS processes.
- Act as a Flight Operations Subject Matter Expert to support safety investigations.
- Flight Operations SME support for risk assessment, root cause analysis and corrective actions for significant issues identified through SMS processes (investigations, safety and quality audit, inspections, etc.).
- Facilitate and/or assist with risk assessments and safety cases relating to Flight Safety.
- Assist with and/or develop safety communications in consultation with SQE, Flight Operations and other departments as necessary on matters relating to Flight Safety.
- Liaison with internal stakeholders as required on matters related to Flight Safety and Safety Management.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have extensive commercial pilot operations experience with a commercial airline. (ATPL preferred)
- Previous experience within a safety management role is a definite asset (i.e. flight safety officer, safety investigator, auditor etc.)
- Previous management experience is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations is required.
- Experience/knowledge relating to IOSA Standards and Recommended practices is an asset.
- Must be an excellent communicator.
- Must have strong computer skills. (familiarity with complete Microsoft Office suite)
