As part of the Energy Efficiency Services team, the Program Management Specialist will focus on designing, delivering, and optimizing energy efficiency programs tailored to industrial customers. This role plays a critical part in helping NB Power become the customer's partner of choice by improving customer experience and program performance, driving energy savings, and contributing to New Brunswick's transition to a low-carbon economy. The ideal candidate will bring technical knowledge of industrial systems and energy use, strong program management skills, and a passion for driving measurable impact in large-scale, complex environments.
Key Functions Include:
- Program Oversight and Delivery: Leading a team in day-to-day management of energy efficiency programs for industrial customers, including program research, development of new initiatives, strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring. Overseeing operational processes, ensuring program uptake, managing relationships with delivery partners and stakeholders, and staying current on industry and efficiency best practices and innovations in energy management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as primary liaison with industrial clients, contractors, builders and government agencies driving engagement efforts related to energy efficiency programs and initiatives. Manage escalated customer inquiries and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders. Identify capacity building opportunities and translate them into actionable strategies to support energy efficiency adoption.
- Internal Support and Capacity Building: Managing the development and delivery of increased energy management capacity, informing and training staff on evolving programs, processes, and emerging technologies. Supporting cross-departmental collaboration to ensure seamless program executions and communication. Foster strong internal relationship to align program delivery with NB Power's strategic objectives
Our ideal teammate will have the following:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering OR Diploma in Engineering Technology in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Systems, or Alternate Energy Systems
- Six years of equivalent full-time experience in one or a combination of the following (those with a technical diploma will require an additional two years of experience):
- Industrial energy efficiency programs, energy auditing,
- Engineering consulting and design for the industrial sector
- Onsite energy management in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Leadership, program management, or supervisory experience
- In-depth knowledge of industrial energy systems, energy audits, process optimization in manufacturing and heavy industry, and energy management standards (e.g., ISO 50001),
- Experience and proficiency in reviewing technical work from external engineering consultants and validating energy savings or other engineering calculations.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills; adept at engaging stakeholders through workshops, industry forums, and cross-sector collaboration
- Proven ability to lead change management initiatives and build capacity within technical teams
- Advanced oral proficiency in both English and French
The following would be considered assets:
- Familiarity with energy efficiency incentive programs, cost-benefit analysis, and performance metrics such as ROI and GHG reduction, industrial efficiency tools and software (e.g., RETScreen, M&V protocols, SCADA systems)
- Experience in coordinating with government agencies and utilities, with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks would be considered an asset
- Experience designing or delivering custom industrial energy programs, such as Strategic Energy Management (SEM)
- Background in utility rate structures, demand response, or process-specific efficiency measures (e.g., compressed air, steam, or motor systems)
- Familiarity with New Brunswick's industrial sectors (e.g., pulp and paper, manufacturing, food processing, mining)
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
