JOB DESCRIPTION R.N.
The clinic nurse provides direct patient care in an outpatient setting. This includes assisting with skin testing, administering allergy injections (or medications), educating patients on allergen avoidance and supporting physicians during evaluations and procedures. The nurse ensures smooth daily operations and quality care within the clinic environment.
- Responsible for allergy testing patients
- Skin Prick Testing-Environmental or Foods.
- Oral challenges - food, medications
- Early oral immunotherapy and food ladders
- Allergy injections
· Explain all procedures to patients prior to and receive signed consent.
· Educate patients on medications and treatment
· Monitor and manage patient flow in the clinic
· Administer allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots) and monitor for adverse reactions.
· Respond promptly to anaphylaxis or allergic reactions using emergency protocols
· Educate patients on allergens, medications use (epi pens) and treatment plans.
· Maintain our patients' charts - keeping information documented.
· Ensure exam rooms and testing areas are properly stocked and sanitized.
· Check medical supplies and solutions and order (to Saint John) as necessary.
· Obtain a copy of the day sheet and review before the day starts.
· Restocking handouts in patient room and physician room (or travel clinic container)
· Phone calls for physicians (follow up calls)
Qualifications
Valid nursing license (RN)
Graduate from an accredited nursing program
Strong communication and patient service skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology
Bilingual French and English is an asset
Work environment
Outpatient clinic setting
2 days per week (Tuesday and Thursday ideally)
Collaborative team environment with physicians and administrative staff
