The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Underground Mine Operations Superintendent to join our Underground Operations team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.
This is a permanent on-site position, working a 1 week on, 1 week out rotation.
As the Superintendent of Underground Mine Operations, you are responsible for the safe day-to-day management of the underground mining operations. You will use your skills and experience to deliver the production ramp-up and steady state production output to achieve our business goals.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Adhere to weekly and monthly production and/or maintenance plans.
- Achieve/exceed production quality and quantity targets while maximizing economic resource recovery.
- Achieve total product and unit cost, and capital expenditure targets.
- Audit and analyze trends in safety, environment, production, cost and quality, as well as the consumption of resources.
- Contribute to Asset Integrity reviews and support development of action plans to address 'at risk' assets.
- Provide input for the development of, and to facilitate the execution of, the annual and 5-year capital plans.
- Effective workforce planning and management, including contributing to the Succession Planning processes.
- Contribute to the implementation of new systems and processes while providing guidance, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
About You
Education
- The ideal candidate will possess a Post-Secondary education in a related field.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in underground mining operations.
- Extensive practical experience, as well as senior mining leadership roles, in underground mine development and production including cut and fill and bulk mining.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, company standards and procedures.
- Strong familiarity of underground mine design, mining engineering, drilling/blasting, backfilling, ventilation, scheduling, surveying, incentives, metrics tracking required.
- Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Experience working in a unionized environment, including training progression.
- Ability to develop people using effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).
- Ability to lead and facilitate meetings.
