TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract, Full Time

CONTRACT: Short Term Contract; Estimate Seven (7) Months

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: Eight (8)

JOB SUMMARY: The role of the Second Engineer II is to assist the First Engineer and the Chief Engineer in the safe and efficient management of the Engine Department.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Canadian 4th Class Engineer License or STCW III/1 Equivalent
  • 3 Years Experience as Second Engineer
  • 1 Year Offshore Experience
  • 1 Year Semi-Sub Experience
  • 4 Months K-Chief Experience
  • Minimum 500 Hours Total DP Operation Time
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The primary function of the Second Engineer II is to supervise the operations and maintenance of all machinery plant onboard
  • The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the supervision of the planned maintenance and repairs
  • Maintain the chemical treatment of fresh and salt water
  • On duty, the Second Engineer II is responsible for the safety and integrity of the Engine Department, and that relevant procedures are followed.
  • The Second Engineer II is to ensure that all work in the engine department is carried out safely and efficiently.
  • The Second Engineer II are to familiarize themselves on the ongoing DP Operation while on duty in the Engine Control Room, refer to DP Operation Manual
  • They are the supervisor for bunker operations at night and fuel quality measurements
  • The responsibilities also include reporting as required by the FIMS
  • To be a part of the category management program if required
  • They are to follow the ISPS tasks given by the SSO
  • They are to conduct a COSHH assessment when required, provided they have the adequate knowledge
  • Other Duties as Assigned
