Clearwater's Glace Bay, NS location requires a Maintenance technician.

Purpose of Position:

Assist in all aspects of the day-to-day maintenance and preventive maintenance for the clam and crab operations at Highland Fisheries.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to: Maintenance Manager

Duties

  • Perform a wide variety of general plant maintenance repairs and services.
  • Maintenance and repair of pumps, hydraulic systems, air compressors, processing and packaging equipment
  • Monitor shipments of spare parts and replacement of equipment
  • Coordinate special projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • This job requires lifting weights in excess of 40kg and working in tight areas.
  • Perform welding and plumbing duties as needed.
  • Responsible for alerting the Maintenance Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur.
  • Maintain a professional courteous manner with all vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company policies.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled

Qualifications:

  • Three to Five years experience in a maintenance role would be an asset.
  • Red Seal Certification or a valid Millwright Ticket is required
  • Knowledge of plumbing, wood working, painting, electricity.
  • Basic welding and brazing practices and techniques.
  • Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools used in area of work assigned.
  • Ability to operate pallet jack and forklift.
  • Experience with a variety of types of equipment i.e., pumps, hydraulics, packaging equipment, conveyors
  • Basic Computer skills
  • A relevant trade designation i.e., millwright, electrician, etc., is an asset.
