Job Summary
The Janeway Lifestyle Program is comprised of an interdisciplinary team that provides service to families whose children (aged 2-18) have been identified as having a risk factor for the development of chronic disease. Assessment and treatment is provided through interdisciplinary clinic and educational groups, with some individual physiotherapy interventions as needed. In addition to this, the program focuses on health promotion/prevention, research, and provincial policy development/consultation.
This position provides physiotherapy services to clients from preschool into adulthood, as well as consults to professionals throughout the province in the area of obesity and chronic disease prevention and management. All team members are expected to be actively involved in research related to program objectives. This position will also be required to attend travelling clinics throughout the province, as well as local evening clinics as identified by the program. Clinical mentorship is available from the Physiotherapist III in the Child Health Program, the clinical leader of the Lifestyle Program and other physiotherapists in NL Health Services in similar practice areas.
The incumbent will be responsible to precept Physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within NL Health Services.
This position reports to the Division Manager for Children's and Women's Health Program and maintains accountability for professional integrity issues to the Professional Practice Consultant for the discipline.

Regularly requires a combination of sitting, standing and walking.
Regularly required to bend, kneel, stretch and physically lifting, pushing, pulling and/or maneuvering patient/clients with medium force, including transferring patients and assisting with mobility.
Occasionally uses hand tools and equipment.
Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness/alertness is required when performing activities in ICU with critically ill patients and dealing with clients with complex medical conditions
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of Physiotherapy is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three (3) years' experience within the last five (5) working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with a pediatric musculoskeletal population is required.
Successful completion of a post entry education course in Orthopedic Level I (or equivalent as determined by NL Health Services) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Possessed proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
*The successful applicant must be willing to complete post entry education in therapeutic exercise prescription relevant to the paediatric population. It must be completed within two years of commencing the position. Financial support may be provided by the employer.
