Reporting to Manager, Digital Content, the Digital Content Specialist is responsible for the development, management, optimization, and performance reporting of content across the NSLC's digital platforms. This role is a key member of the Communications team, helping to ensure that a consistent and positive shopper and employee experience is maintained across the NSLC's websites, social media, intranet, and other digital channels. The Digital Content Specialist will steward the processes required to optimize and grow the NSLC's online presence.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Manager, Digital Content to support the development and execution of cross-channel content strategies, including web, social media, SharePoint (intranet), email, and other digital properties as assigned.
- Plan and execute the development of digital content packages to support the success of marketing and communications initiatives.
- Conceptualize, write, create, edit and optimize digital content that adheres to the NSLC's brand guidelines, business objectives and marketing and communications strategies. Adhere to and apply best practices in writing for digital platforms, with user experience, accessibility, and SEO top of mind.
- Coordinate, populate, amplify and maintain digital content on assigned channels in accordance with approved content plans and priorities.
- Perform regular audits and quality assurance checks on existing content to ensure it is accurate and supporting current business objectives.
- Monitor and engage with the NSLC's digital community, adhering to brand guidelines and social responsibility standards. Respond to inquiries and comments in a timely manner, including some support outside of business hours, ensuring to connect with appropriate team members to collect and share accurate information, and practicing sound judgment to escalate issues as needed.
- Continuously assess, identify, and champion opportunities for improving content management processes and opportunities on the NSLC's digital channels. Support channel enhancement projects to meet team and business objectives.
- Track, analyze and report on key metrics, trends, and the performance of the NSLC's digital content and channels to provide actionable insights and make strategic recommendations on how to evolve our digital presence.
- Provide strategic counsel on digital content trends, opportunities and solutions.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including members of Marketing, Creative, Responsibility and Sustainability, Category, People and Culture, IT, Retail, as well as other internal teams and external partners.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Act in a back-up capacity to other Digital Content team roles.
- Research, assess and make recommendations for implementation of digital service providers and platforms to support the NSLC's communications, marketing, and business objectives.
- Make recommendations regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of current systems and processes related to this position.
- Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's social responsibility mandate, values, and service standards.
- Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including some travel within Nova Scotia.
As a qualified candidate, you will have:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Communications, Digital Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related area.
- At least 3-5 years' experience in a digital/content marketing or content development/management role, using content management systems.
As an ideal candidate you will have:
- Experience with social community management and engaging with a digital community on behalf of a brand.
- Experience working with or in a marketing/communications/media agency in a creative role.
An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
