Job Summary
The Cardiology Technologist I performs specialized technical work in cardiology by operating electrocardiographic equipment, ambulatory recorders/analyzers and treadmill/monitors for exercise testing to assist with assessment of patients with cardiac and other disorders. Cardiology Technologists are also required to analyze ECG's for acute abnormalities and ensure medical and/or nursing staff are notified as appropriate. Cardiology Technologists report to the Division Manager, Cardiac & Critical Care Program.

Required to lift materials and equipment up to 10 lbs., and regularly lift, push or pull between 25 - 50 lbs. Occasionally, there is a requirement to push or transport patients who weigh over 50 lbs.
Constant requirement to stand for extended periods and work in awkward positions.
Occasionally sits to perform work on the computer. Visual concentration is required to observe and interpret cardiac diagnostic tests for abnormalities and to stare at a computer screen for extended periods to read, analyze, and interpret cardiac tests.
During particular tests, auditory concentration is required to check patient's blood pressure equipment for changes and to listen for patient's breathing levels responses during ETT testing.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized/approved diploma program in Cardiology Technology is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) is required.
Current BLS for Health Care Providers Certification is required.
Minimum of two years of experience in the last four working as a Cardiology Technologist is required.
Clinical instruction in blood pressure assessment is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
