Registered Nurse IC - OR

Obligated Casual (900 Hour Commitment)
Location: St. Anthony, NL
About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team, to provide specialized nursing care and to provide preventative, promotion, supportive, rehabilitative, and curative interventions within Surgical Services at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hopsital. The Registered nurse is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
" Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
" Surgical Services Education Program or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
" Successful completion of NRP, ACLS, TNCC or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
" Breastfeeding education/course or willingness to complete within timeframe designated by the employer
" Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check;
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Provide safe nursing care to clients in the Surgical Suite and Day Surgery;
" Complete an accurate record of care throughout the client's stay in Surgical Services;
" Complete inventory of unit narcotics and controlled drugs;
" Be familiar with the operation of the equipment in the Surgical Suite and Day Surgery;
" Assess equipment function and reports malfunctions;
" Maintain a safe level of supplies;
" Other related duties as required.
Salary:
" NS-31 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $41.79 to $51.66 per hour.
Hours of Work:
" Called as needed (with a commitment of 900 hours per fiscal year as per article 33.02 of the RNUNL collective Agreement)
