Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, South America and Australia. As a result of our robust growth, we are adding an Oiler/Deckhand to our team of professionals.

Primary duties of this role include but are not limited to:

  • This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance work of the ship's engines, deck equipment and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor engine, machinery and equipment indicators, record variables and report abnormalities to the engineer.
  • Lubricate moving parts of engines, machinery and auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintain engine parts and keep engine room clean.
  • Ensuring that adequate stores and supplies are available while maintaining relevant inventories.
  • Deck work is required, assisting operations on deck when needed, and training will be provided.

Qualifications/Requirements/Attributes:

  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A1
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Valid Passport with the ability to enter the US
  • Valid Transport Canada Marine Medical
  • Able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Experience using deck machinery or equipment.
  • A certification in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods will be considered an asset.

As per company policy, a clear result of a pre-employment criminal background check.

The ideal candidate will have two (2) years of experience in a relevant field (or a combination of experience and training).
