Industrial Services Manager, St. John’s, NL

On behalf of our client – Crosbie, Jump Recruitment Specialists is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Industrial Services Manager. This is a permanent full-time position located in St. John’s or Come by Chance, Newfoundland and Labrador

The Job

The Industrial Services Manager will work directly with current and potential Clients to grow the Industrial business line following the Company’s strategic Plan. The Manager is accountable to ensure that Company assets, in particular facilities located at Alexander Gilbert Street, Come by Chance, are utilized in an effective manner and will make recommendations regarding the acquisition, disposal and modification of assets to achieve profitability and growth targets. The Manager shall collaborate closely with senior Company leadership to develop recommendations for the growth of the business.

Essential Role Functions

Commercial

  • Accountable for profit/loss for assigned operating division;
  • Lead the development, review and approval of responses to EOI’s, RFP’s and bids in conjunction with the Commercial and Finance and other support functions;
  • Lead the development of annual operational budgets;
  • Optimize deployment and performance of personnel, equipment and materials to achieve or exceed contractual and organizational performance targets;

Operational

  • Lead the planning and coordination of work requirements across the operation and prioritize the requisition and allocation of materials, equipment and labour;
  • Proactively identify resource requirements and work with internal support functions to ensure resource requirements are met;
  • Maintain regular communication with site foreman/leads to ensure all progress reporting is up to date and material and labour variances are addressed as they arise;
  • Develop and maintain positive and open communication with internal and external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, inspectors, other trades, union representatives; and
  • Collaborate with clients to plan and prepare project schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established timelines and budgets;

Heath, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Actively participate in all client and company safety initiatives and programs;
  • Promote the importance of safe and environmentally conscious job performance with sub-contractual operations;
  • Evaluate completed work scopes and manage lessons learned to develop strategies for field operation improvements and efficiencies;
  • Ensure all operations are compliant with legislative, Client and Company policies and procedures; and,
  • Ensure that work scopes are completed in accordance with documented quality assurances plans.

Personnel

  • In conjunction with People support functions develop labour strategies for efficient and effective service delivery;
  • Communicate with appropriate unions and business agents as required;
  • Ensure personnel are adequately trained in line with identified Company, Client and regulatory guidelines;
  • Mentor and train site leadership, trade leads and on-site personnel to ensure superior client service delivery;

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post secondary education in a technical discipline, construction management or related field.
  • Project Management Training and/or PMP Designation;
  • Level 1 NACE Coating Inspector Training (asset);
  • Industrial Scaffolding and Insulation experience (asset);
  • 10+ years in a site or operations leadership role
  • 10+ Years Project Management/Coordination
  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial, marine environment or similar work environment.

  • Highly effective communication skills (written & oral)
  • Proven financial acumen and commercial awareness
  • Demonstrated industrial cost estimating skills
  • Proven business development and account management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications
  • Ability to recognize and resolve issues and conflict
  • Have good logical thought processes with the ability to multitask and strategize in diverse situations
