The College is currently seeking two dynamic and competent individuals for the position of Custodial Worker I. These are Regular employment opportunities, located at NBCC's Woodstock campus.
As part of the Facilities Team and reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Custodian is responsible for ensuring the care of the NBCC buildings and related grounds of the Woodstock campus.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors
- Garbage disposal
- Cleaning washrooms and replacing supplies
- Moving heavy furniture and equipment
- Opening and closing buildings, readying premises for staff, students, and facility users
- Setting up classrooms and meeting rooms to specifications
- Performing maintenance such as cutting grass, shoveling snow, and cleaning walkways
- Stripping floors
- Light and in-depth cleaning and sanitizing, of offices, classrooms, microwaves and common areas
- Other duties as required
Regular hours of work for this position are based on a 40-hour work week. Additional overtime and weekend work may be required. This position may require shift work.
- The completion of high school or GED with related work experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) months of recent and related experience.
- Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
- Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- A desire for continuous learning and growth.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
