Responsibilities

As part of the Finance and Administration Division, and reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Director of Finance will be an integral member of the Vice President's Finance and Administration Leadership Team as well as the College Leadership Team. This role serves as a strategic advisor to members of the senior executive team and supports the work of NBCC's Board of Governors while striving for excellent client service, stewardship, and accountability.

This role provides overall leadership to the Finance Team and will champion the integration of financial planning; policy, procedure and internal controls; accounting and financial reporting functions; and transactional services (such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement and payroll services) into decision-making by the College community.

As with all members of our College Leadership Team, you can expect as part of this role to have accountability for financial sustainability, human resource management, continuous improvement, business processes and practices; risk management; and policy management.

With a dispersed team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the finance team and travelling to all NBCC campuses.

Qualifications
  • A professional accounting designation is a must have.
  • Formalized education in Business Administration, Finance or any relevant field of study.
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Experience leading medium to large, geographically decentralized teams through transformational change.
  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships and relationships based on transparency, trust and cooperation with which to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience providing strategic financial leadership to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of organization-wide plans.
  • Experience facilitating the consultative development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of departmental operational plan(s).
  • Desire to champion and monitor compliance of applicable legislation, regulation, and best practices.
  • Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License as travel will be required.

It would be a bonus if you have the following experience:

  • Experience working with Board of Governors/Directors and related committees is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (e.g., ORACLE FUSION; PeopleSoft Student Information Management System) is considered an asset.
