YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Associate Vice-Provost, the Executive Director will grow the newly created unit, UNB Online, from the ground up. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of UNB Online operations, including overall leadership of staff, providing strategic direction, and driving aggressive revenue expectations. The Executive Director, in collaboration with Faculties, is responsible for developing new financially sustainable programming based on the needs of the community and market research.

  • Define and develop the long-term strategic goals for UNB's degree-credit online and microcredential growth. Identify new audiences of learners and increase the number of online students.
  • Provide leadership and support for online and technology-enabled learning.
  • Support the investigation, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies. Consult on University decisions around technology-enabled learning.
  • Lead the development and administration of internal processes and policies to ensure academic growth plans.
  • Lead, drive, and direct organizational structure and reorganization as deemed necessary.
  • Serve as the UNB Online representative on various committees, advisory groups, external agencies, and community entities.
  • Schedule meetings with faculty to explore the development of new online programming.
  • Collaborate with units and the Associate Vice-Provost Learning Futures to support the development and management of degree-credit online courses and programs and microcredentials.
  • Assist faculties in the development of any quality assurance documentation that might be required as a precursor to the development and launch of new educational products.
  • Monitor program growth to ensure targets are met and adjustments made where required.
  • Oversee regular market scans to identify new and/or emerging opportunities for growth.
  • Manage the development and administration of internal process policies; review existing policies and implement changes as appropriate.
  • Administer all contract negotiations with internal and external partners.
  • Increase strategic alliances with a variety of current and potential partners and stakeholders. Identify potential partners and clients.
  • Qualify new market opportunities through market research, consumer indicators, and identified patterns and industry trends.
  • Lead budget preparation within the unit. Provide quality financial analysis of budgets based on key performance indicators.
  • Lead and manage annual plans for the business and academic success of UNB Online, ensuring profitable growth and academic integrity.
  • Develop a new financially sustainable programming based on the needs of the community and market research.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of staff. Encourage professional growth and development.
  • Lead departmental HR strategies; determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery. Oversee the implementation of HR policies and practices.
  • Ensure team orientation, training, and performance management processes are in place for all staff.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree in Education or another relevant field.
  • 5-10 years of directly related experience, with demonstrated success in leadership and strategic planning.
  • Experience in higher education, with a focus on technology and emerging markets of learners.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Proven leadership and management skills with experience leading a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of microcredentials and online learning platforms, would be an asset.
  • Commitment to the growth of new markets of learners.
  • Oral and written abilities to communicate effectively with excellent listening and perceptive capacities.

  • Experience/knowledge of media creation tools and technologies.
