YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Associate Vice-Provost Learning Futures, the Director of Transformative Teaching & Learning is responsible for the strategic leadership, coordination, and development of the Transformative Teaching & Learning unit. This position leads a team that supports teaching and learning and academic program innovation in all modalities.

  • Direct and manage strategic planning and operational initiatives. Foster a culture of excellence in teaching and learning across UNB.
  • Ensure UNB remains at the forefront of best practices and emerging trends in pedagogy, assessment and learning, and classroom technology across all modes of delivery.
  • Oversee the formulation, implementation, and periodic review of policies across all educational modalities.
  • Initiate and guide cross-departmental and inter-university partnerships and initiatives to advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and units to find opportunities for pedagogical innovation and reform.
  • Foster productive relationships and collaborations within the university.
  • Enhance inclusivity in learning environments.
  • Ensure technical and administrative support for the development, facilitation, and renewal of new and existing academic programming and interdisciplinary programming.
  • Enhance media production and distribution.
  • Promote UNB's vision, mission, and services for Transformative Teaching & Learning to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of staff across Transformative Teaching & Learning.
  • Encourage professional growth and development among staff.
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Develop and manage budgets, resources, and staffing plans.
  • Lead the planning and development of state-of-the-art, inclusive physical and virtual teaching and learning spaces.
  • Create and execute strategies for the effective integration of instructional technology and diverse media services.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Senior academic and/or administrative leadership in a university environment or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in higher education, with a focus on teaching and learning development and enhancement.

Additional Strengths

  • A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to frame and solve complex problems collaboratively.
  • Proven leadership and management skills with experience leading a diverse team.
  • Familiarity with a variety of teaching and learning methodologies and technologies.
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum design, particularly as related to topics of equity and inclusion.
  • Commitment to academic and teaching excellence and to the promotion of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, and implement change and new initiatives.
  • Ability to oversee large, complex projects from conception to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets.
  • Strong research background, preferably with publications in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • Familiarity with legal and ethical considerations in education, particularly concerning online learning and accessibility.
