Social Assistance Worker
Permanent Full Time
Location: Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL
PCN: 55427POS

The primary purpose of this position is to process client financial eligibility for service in accordance with provincial and board policy as it pertains to Community Support Programs, Personal Care Homes and Long Term Care facilities which are within the mandate of Labrador-Grenfell Health. This position reports to Manager-Client Services.

Qualifications:

" Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution (minimum 3 year program with major course work in Finance and/or Accounting). Other relevant programs or course work may be considered;
" Good working knowledge and understanding of computer systems and applications, including CRMS and Client Pay;
" Knowledge of Labrador-Grenfell Health's Community Services and Support programs;
" Experience in interviewing techniques and assessing information provided by or on behalf of clients - well developed interpersonal skills are essential;
" Ability to work independently as well as with a Finance Team;
" Ability to establish rapport and collaborative working relationships with clients;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

" Completes financial assessments for all personal care homes and long-term care facilities/beds related supports when necessary as well as other service areas for interim periods;
" Responsible for gathering and processing financial information to determine eligibility for client financial benefits in accordance with Provincial and Board Policy;
" Performs comprehensive review of client's financial files on a regular basis to ensure continued eligibility;
" Liaise with professional teams, provincial, and other community agencies as required;
" Compiles monthly statistics and prepares reports;
" Use of a private vehicle may be required;
" Other related duties as required.

Salary:

" CG-29 of the Nape-HS Salary Scales, $26.54 to $29.48 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:

" 75 hours Bi-weekly; Monday to Friday;
