Job Summary
This position will provide coverage to the 24-hour Emergency Room and the Medicine Unit at the Placentia Health Centre.
Registered Nurses lead, coordinate and participate in the delivery of holistic and supportive care to patients by assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating the plan of care. The RN promotes healthy living and provides curative, supportive, rehabilitative and palliative services. As the clinical leader, the RN provides professional supervision and direction to the nursing care team while supporting other members of the interprofessional team to achieve safe and effective care to patients. This includes working in partnership with families to ensure the highest standard of patient-centered care is provided. RNs ensure that documentation, program and organizational policies and practices are followed. Patients have diverse needs resulting from such conditions as chronic illness and functional and cognitive impairments. The work environment is fast paced with frequent contact with the public, patients and other health professionals. The RN will function with considerable independence and may be the initial 'on site' contact to address issues related to patient, staff and building safety.

Constantly moves/lifts up to 10 lbs., regularly moves/lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to restrain/reposition/move/ lift up to 30 lbs. Pushes/pulls up to medium force.
Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or cramped positions to assist with procedures.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc. May be subject to time pressures/deadlines and subject to lack of control over work pace.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
Current and active registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL).
Emergency room experience would be an asset.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
Must be willing to complete ACLS, PALS, CTAS, TCI and TNCC within one year of commencing the position.
