Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Person is responsible for carrying out material and equipment installations, renovations, repairs, and servicing in the following areas - carpentry, plumbing, heating, basic electrical, painting and ventilation on properties under the jurisdiction of Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency.
- Maintain and repair buildings and properties under the jurisdiction of Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency, including maintenance and repairs of walks, driveways and parking areas.
- Install, maintain, and repair the following finished carpentry components: door jambs, doors, exterior fascia, soffits, railings and wood trim, counters, cupboards, shelving, windows, glass and screening.
- Replace and repair asphalt and wood shingles, siding, building paper, gable, eave and roof vents, eaves trough, conductor pipe and flashing.
- Restore and install finishes such as drywall, including taping and filling, suspended ceilings, barker board, ceramic tile, flooring including tile, sheet-vinyl, stair nosings and rubber mats.
- Maintain and repair sanitary drainage and venting systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems, exhaust and air supply systems, heating systems components, domestic hot water heating systems and plumbing fixtures and trim.
- Prepare interior and exterior surfaces and apply paint, stain, varnish and associated sealers.
- Prepare and complete documentation such as work orders, vehicle reports, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and inventory records.
- Repair vacant units to make them rent-ready.
- Grade 12 or equivalent, plus five years' experience in building and property maintenance or a related field. Must be able to perform basic tasks in carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, painting and drywall.
- Knowledge of residential building technology, basic knowledge of National Building Code and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Ability to operate electrical and mechanical tools and equipment.
- Possess a valid Nova Scotia driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.

- Red Seal Journeyman Certification
